Wilting and low yields of the plantations

Prevention:

Removal all the extra banana suckers and leaves.

Treatment:

Remove all dried banana leaves and fibres from the banana trees. Three (3) suckers are enough per banana tree. Remove all the stems of cut bananas, and put soil on the remaining ones without putting soil on top of the stems. Keep the banana plants clean all the time. This will help control diseases from attacking them. Dig trenches in the garden at a gap of 10 by 10 ft apart. This will prevent stagnant water with in the plantation and in return prevent diseases.

Symptoms:

Leavs become yellow and eventually wilt,the stems become blackish,roots rot and fruits are stunted.

Prevention and Control:

Kep th plantation tidy and remov un wanted weeds.

Treatment:

Get I small bucket of oluwoko (endod) leaves and roots+ 20 litres of cow urine+4 Get I small bucket of oluwoko (endod) leaves and roots+ 20 litres of cow urine + 4 tumpecos of pepper+3 spoons of obugolo (powder of dried tobacco leaves + powder of dried banana stem) + a half litre of paraffin + 4 leaves of tobacco +a small piece of soap equivalent to a match box, cut it into small pieces. Put all these in a twenty litre Jerican and cover. Keep for 14 days and sieve. Spray around the banana plants (and around the plantation) to kill all types of insects.
